Dr Anita Lai is a Rheumatologist practicing in Midrand who specialises in the treatment of Rheumatic diseases which negatively affect your body and it’s ability to function normally.
She takes an in-depth, holistic and attentive approach when treating patients, offering sound advice and sustainable treatment plans for patients who suffer from debilitating Rheumatic diseases.
She is the regional representative for Gauteng at the SARAA Young Rheumatologist Forum in 2019. This is a forum to provide a voice for new and training rheumatologists as well as an outlet to address the needs and concerns of the young rheumatology community.
Dr Lai was the speaker and a member of the organising committee for Hands On Rheumatology. Hands On Rheumatology is a conference organised by 'The Division of Rheumatology', Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital and University of Witwatersrand in association with SARAA (South African Rheumatism Arthritis Association)'. It has been held every two years since 2016. It is a conference that is directed towards general practitioners, allied health professionals, medical registrars and physicians.
She was one of the six rheumatology fellows in Africa that got sponsored by the African League Against Rheumatism (AFLAR) to attend the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Annual Meeting held in Washington DC, United States Of America in 2016. ACR annual meeting features exceptional sessions of latest rheumatology research and clinical applications from leading rheumatology experts.
Dr Lai completed the 17th European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Postgraduate course in Prague in 2016 and the EULAR online course on rheumatic diseases in 2017. Both courses provide training on the newest developments in the field of rheumatology.
